Four stages of Sleep cycle
There are five stages of sleep cycle which follows the pattern of two essential phases, NREM (non-rapid eye movement) and REM (RAPID RAPID MOVEMENT) First four stages are NREM stages in which we begin to fall asleep and are little engaged and attentive with our surrounding in stage fourth we shifts to deep sleep where our blood pressure drops and our breathing becomes slower. Stage 5 is REM stage composed of 25% of sleep at night. It first occurs about 90 minutes after falling asleep and recurs about every 90 minutes.
In Stage 4 and 5, where we’re in deep sleep helps us to relax our body muscles, blood supply to muscles increases, energy is restored, hormones are released which leads your mental and physical growth and development. These stages also provides energy to brain and body and stores your daytime activities in your brain which helpful in feeling mentally fresh and active to the next day.
