Dark circles under the eyes are a common problem in both men and women. Under-eye dark circles give us an appearance of illness. The major causes are a lack of proper nutrition, stress, excessive smoking or alcohol. However, there are some useful and effective home remedies for dark circles, including vitamin K. Vitamin K can treat damaged capillaries around the eyes, thereby promoting normal blood circulation and treating under-eye dark circles.
How to Get Vitamin K
One of the most common sources of vitamin K is through green, leafy vegetables. For example, spinach and Swiss chard both contain high levels, and you can easily get your recommended daily allowance by including these things in your diet. If you have a difficult time eating green, leafy vegetables for one reason or another, you might want to consider starting to make green smoothies. These are an excellent way for you to make sure that you get your greens on a daily basis, and it is quite a delicious treat!
To make a green smoothie, start with a base of two of your favourite fruits (you may try apples and bananas), and blend them with water and ice. During the blending process, add some of these vitamin K foods into the mix and blend it until it’s smooth. If you mix it properly, you will not even taste the vegetables at all, and they will go down in one delicious swallow. Try making one of these every day. It’s a real pick-me-up in the middle of the afternoon.
You may also want to try some of the other types of vitamin K foods that are available. For example, avocado has high levels of vitamin K, as does Kiwi. The fact that it is available in an avocado is excellent, as they are a source of nourishment for the body and actually contain a good kind fat that helps you lose weight. In addition to these fruits, two tablespoons of parsley is enough to give you well over 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vitamin K.
Other Remedies to Treat Dark Circles Are:
Water: Dehydration may be one of the reasons you suffer from dark circles. Health experts recommend having 8 glasses of water a day to keep your skin cool and moistened. Water also helps flush out toxins and reduce the problem.
Honey and almond oil: The exfoliating properties of almond oil are suggested to activate your cells, thus tightening the skin around the eyes and treating dark circles. For this, you can equally mix honey and almond oil, applying it on the affected skin around the eyes for 15 minutes (or more often).
Rose Water: The rejuvenating and relaxing properties of rose water are very effective in reducing dark circles around the eyes. For this, soak cotton balls in about 4-5 drops of rose water and apply it to the skin around the eyes for about 10 minutes.
Lemon Juice and Cucumber: Being rich in vitamin C, this remedy can prevent damage from free radicals. Mix 2 teaspoons of grated cucumber with a half a teaspoon of lemon juice and apply it around your eyes for 20 minutes.
Exercises: Everyone knows that exercise plays a vital role in our healthy lives, but many of us forget to do eye exercises. Eye exercises are just as important as other exercises. Doing eye exercises for five minutes per day keeps away dark circles and improves eyesight.
