8 Best Foods to Clear Acne

If you’ve ever looked at acne remedies, you may have noticed that they tend to be expensive. Some of them are also fairly harsh and can leave your skin dry and painful. Chances are pretty good, however, that you can avoid these effects with things found in your typical kitchen.

1. Avocados

Even though most of your face may feel like it produces industrial strength oil, there usually a few places that are dry. After you clean your skin, a mask of mashed avocado could be beneficial. If you don’t want to waste the food, rub the inside of the peel on your face. Rinse it thoroughly to avoid clogging your pores, though.

2. Baking Soda

Some drying is often needed when dealing with acne. Applying a paste of baking soda and water to problem areas (particularly pimples) can also help.

3. Cucumber

You may remember several commercials or television shows in which a woman is laying back with slices of raw cucumber over her eyes. This is a good idea, as it can help reduce dark circles. However, if you blend the cucumber and apply it to your face, it can also be an effective toner.

4. Distilled Vinegar

It may not smell all that good, but distilled vinegar is another excellent toner. It will help tighten up the skin and flush out the pores. You can use just about any sort, but I prefer distilled to apple cider due to colour issues. ACV can colour your skin slightly.

5. Garlic

A slice of raw garlic can be applied to a blackhead to help draw out the infection and kill the bacteria. You can also put it into your vinegar for easier application. The vinegar will extract the needed constituent. You can also place garlic in a food processor and make it into a paste-like substance. Rub it on your face once or twice per day. Garlic acts like an antiseptic and has antibacterial properties.

6. Oats

What is a good acne program without a decent exfoliator? Oats make a nice, gentle scrub for your skin. Oats can offer more than just a scrub, however. There’s a constituent in this grain that can soothe and moisturize your skin. Any variety will do, but the closer to whole grain you are, the better it is for your skin.

7. Oatmeal

Applying cooked oatmeal to your face helps acne clear up. It’s very important to make sure it’s not hot when applied to the face. Make sure it’s lukewarm, because the last thing we want to do is burn our face.

8. Tomatoes

Most acne treatments have some acid to help get rid of the oil and tighten up pores. Tomatoes can fill that need quite well. Throw one in the blender, and then spread it on your face. It’s usually best to lie down for this treatment, because otherwise it will slide off your face. Put your hair up and rest your head on a towel to protect the surface you’re resting on.

If you are in need of acne treatments, now you know that you can look for them throughout your grocery store for a fraction of the cost!
